[SOLVED] Flysky FS-i6X on Linux
Hi All,

I've just received my usb simulator cable to get my i6X working on Linux.

https://www.banggood.com/FPV-Racer-Simulator-with-Dongle-Cable-for-Flysky-Esky-Radiolink-Futaba-Remote-Controller-p-1047126.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN

It is detected by the built-in joystick interface of Linux, but Steam, and subsequently Liftoff, does not seem to pick it up.

I've tried the Antimicro route, but that also does not show my controller.

I'm running the latest version of SolydK and all the installed applications are up to date.

Device is registered as /dev/input/js0, and running dmesg give me the following result.

[ 1736.271365] usb 2-1.5: new low-speed USB device number 8 using ehci-pci [ 1736.385509] usb 2-1.5: New USB device found, idVendor=0401, idProduct=0401 [ 1736.385512] usb 2-1.5: New USB device strings: Mfr=4, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [ 1736.385514] usb 2-1.5: Product: widegoose@live.cn [ 1736.385515] usb 2-1.5: Manufacturer: Љ [ 1736.386001] usb 2-1.5: can't set config #1, error -32 [ 1736.560001] usb 2-1.5: USB disconnect, device number 8 [ 1736.783366] usb 2-1.5: new low-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci [ 1736.897365] usb 2-1.5: New USB device found, idVendor=0401, idProduct=0401 [ 1736.897368] usb 2-1.5: New USB device strings: Mfr=4, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [ 1736.897369] usb 2-1.5: Product: widegoose@live.cn [ 1736.897371] usb 2-1.5: Manufacturer: Љ [ 1736.900697] input: Љ widegoose@live.cn as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.5/2-1.5:1.0/0003:0401:0401.0008/input/input19 [ 1736.901055] hid-generic 0003:0401:0401.0008: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.00 Joystick [Љ widegoose@live.cn ] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-1.5/input0

Any help to get this to work would be appreciated.

O, FPVfreerider also fails to detect the controller. Busy downloading Velocidrone to see if that will pick it up.

OK, it seems that I have found a solution.

It would appear that Steam on Linux uses an archaic method for detecting input devices. I followed the above method and am now able to use my controller in-game.

There is some other methods described in the above thread, but the one that I linked is by far the simplest.
