RC Phoenix USB adapter on MAC does not work
Trying to use the RC Phoenix USB Adapter recognized as "pxrc phoenixrc usb interface" by the USB controller.

Does not seem to be recognized by LiftOff when I use it to plug my DX6i

Samre here. I have the Phoenix RC dongle and an aftermarket cheapo dongle from Hobby King and the HK works, but the Phoenix RC does not. Sorry - spent an hour and couldn't figure it out either.

Do you have the references of the HK dongle you are using ? or a link ?

According to Phoenix representatives (to which their replies were posted to RCGroups forums) the Phoenix RC USB cable adds encryption to the input code (intentionally, through the little black box that's added to the USB cable). The Phoenix USB cable is designed, therefore, to create a signal only Phoenix RC software can detect.

If you have a Mono/Stereo 3mm cable - similar to being used as an AUX for hooking your phone to your car, for example, you can try using the Mic/Headphone jack of your computer and using PPM signal (will need SmartPropoPlus and vJoy software).

Sorry for the news; let me know if you need help.

The Phoenix RC cable has a black box added to it, which specifically encrypts the signal so that nothing but Phoenix RC can interpet it. You would have to buy another USB eligible cable, or use a Mono audio cable using the 3.5mm input/audio jack of your computer and SmartPropoPlus software.

There is also a great guide in the discussions, Tuto]Using a Spektrum transmitter without USB dongle

I created a short guide that may also help.

Thank you very much for all those information. It seems that SmartPropoPlus and vJoy software are Windows only, by any chance do you know any of those Mac equivalent ?

Most radios with a 3.5mm jack output, can use this to send a PPM signal to your computer through the sound card (since the sound card accepts a 3.5mm jack). To utilise this, you need to have some software to interpret the signal coming in. As awh0423 mentioned, SmartPropoPlus and vJoy will do this for you. :)

awh0423 beat me to it :)

I've never personally used or owned a Mac, but there is a software a friend of mine used called ControllerMate - I believe- and that worked for him. Cannot recall if it employed the 3.5 mm PPM signal or not. What kind of Transmitter are you using?

In the end, I used a spare Arduino UNO SMD and followed that documentation http://sjtrny.com/posts/2015/1/26/interfacing-an-rc-radio-with-your-computer.html

Which creates a driver on MAC OS that enable the DX6i to be seen as a joystick.

Impressive! Glad you got it to work - I'm awful at finding useful things to do with my Arduino boards.
