Make sure your TX is on with usb lead in then fire up liftoff/steam & use the preset taranis.
If i try to calibrate after using the preset, the tx lose's connection so i have just changed my throttle on the taranis menu.
I've seen other people with issues relating to the eepe model. Here's mine—works for Liftoff and FPVFR, turns off the radios, and includes a BMP of the Liftoff logo for the model. Used OpenTX 2.1.6 and Companion. http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=70103359668292844647
I finally found somewhere that said dfu-util depended on lib-usb. This page seemed helpful: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3853634/how-to-set-up-libusb-on-mac-os-x but when I ran the "brew install libusb-compat" command in Terminal it said I didn't have Homebrew installed. Which led me to this page: http://coolestguidesontheplanet.com/installing-homebrew-os-x-yosemite-10-10-package-manager-unix-apps/ I already had XCode, so I skipped to running this command in Terminal --> ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)" After that ran successfully, I ran -- > brew install libusb-compat then I turned off my controller, plugged it in, and when I ran --> /opt/local/bin/dfu-util -l it finally recognized it! Wooooooo! I was able to do a firmware backup in OpenTx Companion, but it still wouldn't let me read models. I tried it with power on and off, and both in the firmware update mode and regular usb mode. So I'm not sure why that doesn't work.
To get it to work with Liftoff I turned the controller on in normal mode, plugged in the usb cable, opened Liftoff and went back to the controller setup, and it finally recognized it there too. I selected the Taranis preset and then did the calibration, and after 4-5 hours I'm finally in business!

EDIT:

After all of that, I'm not sure it wasn't just a bad USB cable the whole time. The cable that worked for me yesterday gave me intermittent issues today. I tried a brand new one and all issues are resolved. I'm able to flash the controller and read and write models to it now. And it works great with Liftoff.
