So the setup I used on the Xbox controller was to click the "Xbox" button. I clicked the "High" button to get the most performance. I then used deadband to set the throttle to off at the bottom of the left stick throw. then adjusted deadband for the other channels to bring the indicator to the center.
The deadbands ended up:
Trottle 0.56
Yaw 0.06
Pitch 0.02
Roll 0.08
I heavily suggest you fly only in acro if your goal is to fly race quad.
Level mode will cause you to rely on the quad for self leveling and set you up for bad habits before the switch to Acro. IMHO
Anyways that was the setup I went with.
For the record I don't ever want to actually race competitively, just go through the motions at a much lower speed. I guess if I ever feel good enough I would be willing to spend more on a normal racing quad.
Thanks for your help though, I am VERY glad I found this game before spending $100+ on one of the other sims.
I do agree with the ACRO MODE statement. I too just started learning how to fly a quad and sadly I too am stuck to an xbox controller..I felt the need to have the quad return to level flight because I am used to this natural pendelum effect of a helicopter. But to be honest, Acro Mode it feel soooooo much better.
I also adjusted my ZERO point.
For Racing, I use lower PID settings because I want clean smooth entries into the turns and clean exits out... Leaves for much cleaner faster flying in my opinion.. Less wobbling around trying to get level.. But for ACRO... I love the quick response during a routine.

After understand this I use:
Trottle 0.30 (example for drone aether, other need different value) and deadband 0.10 0.10 0.10
With this combination you obtain more distance to work in the joystick and is many more easy to work.
Also I purchase stick extender xbox 360 - like in ebay searching - 8X 4Size Black Silicone Thumb Stick Grip Cover Caps For PS4 & Xbox One Controler - 1 euro.
Now I add screws to longer the distance
How the extender is rubber you can put a screw and also remove without problems. Also proof different screws more o less longer
