How to fly, noob questions
Hi,

I'm a noob pilot and only played with a toy grade quad and want to get started with FPV and hobby grade quads.

Because I couldn't get a quad and transmitter at the same time I thought a transmitter and simulator would be a good start.

Now I would like to know what's the best way to get started, Level I can fly around a bit in Liftoff and do some complete tracks in FPV Free-rider so I could keep trying to finish a track in Liftoff in level mode but isn't Acro the way to learn?

My goal is to fly freestyle on a local field.

And should I setup expo and rates on my Taranis or is it better not to?

One more question, should I which setup should I start with, I can't compare to my own quad yet,.

Regards,

Jasper

Hey Jaster, I'm also a noob pilot but I'll provide my 2 cents. Good choice on getting the radio first, the sim (LiftOff) will save you a ton of money once you get a real quad, or so i'm finding out.

Regarding the Taranis, im not sure on set up of this so i'll let someone else provide more details on. As for flight modes, id recommend only flying in Acro ASAP as no one really flys in level or horizon modes, especially if you want to fly freestyle. My first flights were on a real quad, not in a sim and I flew in level mode for a couple packs then moved over to Acro and never looked back.

As for learning, Joshua Bardwell on Youtube has a great how to fly series that ive gone through which has taught me some good stuff. You can probably skip the first couple tutorials but I found them all helpful.

As for setup, I suspect you mean which quad setup in LiftOff. I'm personally using the setup posted by Janrembold in this thread (Quad / PID's / Medium prests): http://steamcommunity.com/app/410340/discussions/0/458605613410105625/?ctp=5
I started with less camera tilt through, 20° and have since increased it to 32°.

From here, I think its just putting in the hours and practice every day :) Good Luck!

TY,I'll give that a try and skip level mode from now on. Won't cost me a quad in a sim :steamhappy:

Nice, with all those videos I can use my second screen and try to fly better.

Level mode is going better but I need to learn acro now.

We'll be adding a new tutorial system in the game with "how to fly" videos.

Nice,

Are updates on steam games push updates or manual? I hardly use steam for gaming.

Automatic if you select that option

Indeed, it's automatic by default, meaning you don't have to do anything to get the update.

We update the game on average every 10 days, it's part of the Early Access program we provide to the Liftoff community.
