Let's talk about Multiplayer Decorum
A quick guide to the unwritten rules about playing multiplayer (MP). If you're new to MP, this guide will help you understand the general way to get along better and smoother with the whole MP experience.

First though; Why would you need a guide? Doesn't just getting on and going as simple as it sounds? NO. While you can do that, you're going to ruffle a few feathers if you don't allow all to enjoy the experience. You will soon see what I mean.

I'll put these as best I can in order of importance.

1- If you're still on the first lap, and everyone's crashed out, reset, or "R out". (especially on a longer track, or if you're a slow pilot). This way the race can restart and everyone can get in the air sooner. Naturally there's a few exceptions to the rule. Like if you're in a tournament. If they crashed, kudos to you, you just increased your chances of winning that heat. Another exception is if you're real fast and you're pushing to beat your personal best. Most everyone will accept that you're in the zone and will encourage you.
Why this rule? People will not want to keep playing with you if you make em wait for you all the time.

2- God Mode (GM) Honor System. A lot of people prefer to use GM because of how easily you can damge your quad by barely hitting anything. I get it. Most people get it. But the GM Honor System is this: if you're hitting a bunch of things that would clearly take you out even if the props weren't made of paper, then just R out. This one kinda goes with rule 1. People will be sitting there waiting for you to finish and you're just banging around..people are gonna get heated watching that. Just R out. No one will look down on you for doing the right thing, I promise.

3-GoGoGo people. Impatient people in the waiting room will annoy people a great deal. My approach to it has been, if someone's typing, I'll wait for them to say what they're going to say. I've even been known to kick impatient people. As a host, no offense, but rudeness won't be accepted in my rooms. HOWEVER...

4- Be brief in the chat. We don't need to reed "books" in the chat. Epecially slow typers. hosts will become impatient and just start the race while you're typing. So be brief.
This is another with a few exceptions to the rule. If someone is trying to help you out with setup issues or whatever, a little longer chat time is sometimes okay. If someone needs to run to the restroom or something, sometimes it's okay to give a little time for that.

5- Demanding a host to change a map. Yeah, rude. I will simply tell you that if you want to leave, feel free. Usually a map change is discussed and if everyone agrees, then okay, cool.

6-The Unannounced AFK Assassination. Here's a tricky one, most of the time these can't be helped. But IF you can help it. don't just leave without out leaving the room. If everyone crashed, and you left your computer, the race will just keep going while you didn't take off, causing everyone to have to leave the room.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You might be wondering why I didn't bring up things like, don't say hateful things, or cause arguments, or say racist things etc. etc. Because honestly I haven't seen it. I think this one falls under a common sense rule.

I didn't make this list to be mean or an elitist or anything. Those of us who have been on here for a long time have just seen all these things, and personally, we all want everyone to have as much fun as possible. So don't yell at me. I just hope this helps someone out at some point. If it helps one person, then it was worth it.

Happy Flying,

BC

While, as developers, we won't enforce rules like this, I can see how these rules might improve the general community experience for everyone.

We will hopefully offer a solution to point 6 in a future update. All other points are mostly related to player behaviour and being nice to each other.

Correct! These aren't even rules you could enforce, except maybe taking away GM, but I don't feel there's a need to remove it, as much as I've poked fun at those who abuse it, it helps, it really does.

After racking up many MP hours with many, many pilots, you begin to see the behaviour's and habit's that are acceptable. The pilots who play a lot already know these, except for maybe 1. That one isn't as necessary for the veterans who complete races super fast, but I would hope they would consider it in the future.

Just want to mention that point 6 has been dealt with in recent updates, AFK players will be kicked by the game after a moment of inactivity and can join again at any time if they feel like playing again.
