From what it looks like though, the new DJI FPV is the perfect option (albeit costly) to have a mid-point from Mavics to real acro flight. I do worry however that it might introduce some bad habits with the nanny's. Having 2 different "manual" modes (first one doesn't let the drone flip) is another "step", that could end up helpful or bad habit producing.
I get mine tomorrow, haven't touched this sim in a long time, and still have never flown a real FPV drone. So I'm excited and a bit stressed lol.
In my opinion being a beginner myself i crashed a couple of times when trying acro for the first time and i am glad i didnt have the new dji dorne because it cant really handle crashes as well as a normal carbon frame so i would highly suggest to get good at flying acro in the sim before using it on your dji drone
Just tried it, it works perfectly well. :)
Hey Raz, are you running liftoff on mac or windows? I am trying to connect the FPV’s remote on a mac but can’t get it to work. Dji’s virtual flight simulator is only working on IOS and I bought liftoff as an alternative.
Like the poster above, I'd also appreciate some info on how you connected the DJI controller? If I connect it to my Windows 10 PC with the standard charging cable, I can for example update the controller firmware in the DJI Assistant program, but the controller isn't recognized as a joystick in Liftoff.
The DJI Controller appears as a simple "HID Interface" in the game controllers settings (both in Win10 and in LiftOff)
I just picked up this game and plugged in the DJI controller for the first time. I recognizes the controller but not the sticks. So, you have to calibrate the DJI controller in game, and follow the on screen instructions.
After that it was able to recognize the controller inputs.
However, in order for this to work, you have to plug in the controller via USB, and then turn on the controller (tap then hold the power button to turn the controller on). Just plugging it in does not mean the controller's. Turn it on first, and the game will say something like HD Input recognized or something like that, then you calibrate it.
I've been prcticing using the DJI drone simulator and now LiftOff, never flown an FPV drone before. So far I've stopped crashing during liftoff (pun intended) and i can do flips. Friday is my launch day, as its going to be nice weather.
I wish everyone luck!
