Flying is very difficult..
Hey, I'm just a beginner trying to learn FPV flying with my Taranis. I've got to say, I'm finding Liftoff really difficult to control and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I've used RotorRush (trial) and had some moderate success (managed to make 3 laps around a course - whoohoo) but in Liftoff I am strugling! It seems so 'drifty' and despite using expo on my TX, I am having a hard time controlling the quads. Very quickly becoming un-fun! Any suggestions other than keep on practising?

Use "fisheye" and minimum FOV (or whatever FOV is best for your display) It will feel less drifty and configure betaflight with default controls before adjusting the rest. Aerodynamics are WIP, so it still wont be perfect.

Flying is very difficult indeed! :)

While some say Liftoff still needs work on the flight behaviour and physics, others would say it's perfect as it is. Personally I feel we have a few things more to do (and are in fact doing them), but are already reaching limits of what is possible for real-time simulation. Any changes we'll make to the flight behaviour in Liftoff won't make the game easier, nor will they drastically change the way drones fly in the game. FPV racing is difficult, there's no way around it, many people need hours or days to even finish the simples of courses.

Some find the challenge and the high skill level to be part of the appeal and enjoy slowly progressing, I'm sure others don't find a lot of enjoyment in those things. That's perfectly fine!
The first question to ask is always: is this a type of simulation game you will enjoy? Maybe you are looking for a more casual racing experience?

As for tips: its simply a matter of putting a lot of time into it, there's no magic trick here.
This video is not about FPV, yet still relevant to your question I feel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OysfveZkl4&t=137s

ive been flyn for about 10 hours now... the first 2 hours sucked because i couldnt figure out how to turn propely

i started just banking into turns more and using yaw to correct , now im zipping through trees like its nothing

I assume you are flying in ACRO mode. To ease your progress I would recommend adjusting the Flight Controller Settings. I find comfort with the following setting: RC Rates = 0.50, Super Rate = 0.45, RC Expo 0.40
I'm flying using XBox controller, which I thought was the reason for many difficulties, but adjusting the settings gave me a lot of control and eased my progress.

Flying a drone isn't easy. i'm flying just 6 hours and get a littlebit the hang out of it.

after flying heli and combat planes for 10 years now ,drone flying gives an another dimmencion.

drones are drifting much more than heli and need more correction on the yaw.

flying with FPV makes this feeling even stronger .i'm very glad to use this sim it helps aproving m'n skills.

Didn't no it was so difficult. Training is the go. flying over the gates and try to follow the track and try after every corner leveling the drone with your yaw (rudder) and finaly you get the convedens to go through the gates. I love this sim, thanks for all the good work and keep going. By the way i flying with Taranis on acro mode the best way to learn.

In this sim iv found that the drone you chose make a lot of difference in how hard it is to fly. I would say to configure on with the hypetrain motors and hq 5040 this made a huge difference for me. You could also reduce the camera angle.

try Hanover track 1

Thanks for all the good advice peeps. Difficut or not - it's fun all the same :)
i had alot of trouble starting out i still cant run the tracks "im not quick enough yet" but i run circuits pretty well, one thing i found out getting everything tuned just right is very important i watched videos of how other qwad guys set their expos, i knew about them cause i fly planes alot but they are not near as finnacky gettting dialed in it seems ive been using really high expos 70 i think is where it works for me but my hands are toast ben beating on them with hammers for twenty years so my fine motor skills are gone thats why my expos are high but ive heard some pros using those numbers as well but the simulator is really helping i ordered a vortex 150 and got this simulator wth it but i have inductrix mini drone and before i played this sim i couldnt fly acro at all had to use auto lvl and now i prefer acro with it even in the house.

I also have problems playing the simulator because every time I start the track without touching the controller it's slowly lifting up and rolling to the left then tipping over....... Also when I'm flying and turning left or right it drifts a lot.... I try to play with the pid's setting still no luck...... :-(

Sounds like your input device is not calibrated correctly, can you recalibrate?

So this should not happen? My controller seems to be calibrated correctly but I've got the same behaviour. In calibration setup zero throttle means no prop spinning, but in game it always spins, also at zero throttle. It spins enough to move the quad.

The importance of having the correct settings/tuning so that the multirotors are easier to control has been mentioned a few times. If you have settings that work well, could you please share those here so that we can have a go at that same tuning. Thanks a lot :-)

Give the new blueprint designed by Control.FPV a try :)
