This site might help.

In addition, in 3D mode you can fly while drone is in the air upside down, instead of dropping like a stone. Basically, while 3D, your throttle has zero power when it is in the middle of travel on the control, while under normal flying throttle has zero power when it's all the way down. If you are using game controller, XBox for example, spring brings it to the middle of travel every time you let go of the stick, when you pull up on throttle, you will raise the drone up in the air, when you pull down on the throttle, the drone would _forcefully_ (meaning faster than gravity) fly down because motors would spin in reverse direction to normal spins. So, when you flip over in the air and are inverted (flying upside down) and you pull stick down - you stay in the air. In all other modes beside 3D, you would drop to the ground under gravity, because it would cut your throttle instead.
