Is there a way to slow it down?
I am just learning acro, and the defult quad is just way too fast for me, I keep overshooting corners. I set the overall rates to slow, but it's still too damn fast (for my lowly skills).

You can fill in lower values yourself if you want for the flight controller settings in the pause menu.
In the input calibration screen, you can set the zero-point throttle a little higher so that you have a more easy playing field for the throttle.
And lastly, you can play around with some components for your drone in the workbench: select a different (less powerful) battery, change the propellers, ...

The biggest factor to overall speed on an average setup is camera angle. Reduce the camera tilt to like 10 degrees. See if that is any better. Without thinking about it you will push forward on the stick until the view seems level. If camera angle is 30 degrees you will be flying quite fast.

That is correct. lower the camera angle to 10 or less so it will slow things down a lot. then slowly increase it over time as you get better.

Also the default yaw rate is way too slow. It makes it tough to be able to compensate for a tight turn fast enough. I doubled the rate which is the same as my real vortex.

Try picking easy courses with really big gates from the workshop, that helped me alot in the beginning.

P.S. It would be nice if the devs added some more total beginner friendly race.

i.e. a newbie friendly track:

Thanks for the suggestion HiFish, we'll look into it :)

Have you tried the tutorial tracks btw? while they don't have race functionality, they are good places to start at.

Adding a bigger gate than the ones featured now is a start..

We didn't know the gates have been an issue for players. How big do you want them to be?
HiFish Nov 27, 2016 @ 7:48am
Well, its hard to comprehend once you are able to fly "ok" but for a total beginner (also IRL) even the strawbale track is way too hard. Even the tutorial was pretty hard when I was still struggeling with the controls.
Check the map (for gate sizes) which I linked above that was the first map I could finish when I started.

I don't think there is a need for alot of total beginner maps, but one or two would help the newbies, to get the hang of it. After a few hours training the normal gates are fine.

I think you just answered your own question :)

"After a few hours training the normal gates are fine."

Drone racing is very hard and takes a while to learn, that's perfectly normal.
I would recommend practicing in Autumn Fields race first, as the track is just around the field.

However we are definitely interested in adding more content and features for beginners, so I'm very interested to hear your ideas. What type if track would you be interested in? :)

Up to the size of a small field goal gate. Should be wide enough to attach poles on the gate. All the major event stages are great including featured Dubai, but i always felt the need of wider space in terms of horizont, something like the Hawaii race or similar where you can max out speed and keep it straight for a few seconds before geting techincal.
