Easy: See normal
Normal: 1500 - 800 - 1500 - 1876 - 25
Hard: 3500 - 1800 - 3500 - 4375 - 52
Hardest: 5000 - 2550 - 5000 - 6251 - 77
Inferno : No limits
Some additional info (because people always want to know about weapon drops):
For 98 the max level weapon drop is the weapon limit. This isn't the case for the other missions, where the max level weapon drop is a few levels below the weapon limit, with lower levels having a larger gap. More info on weapon drop level ranges:

I'm trying to reverse engineer the formula for how much armor is allowed per mission so I can convert it into "this is how many armor crates you need to reach this limit." Because of the rounding issues in the game I'm having trouble nailing down the exact sequence and needed more data, short of bumrushing every single mission.

Maybe it's because of the floats and the constant rounding (which I'm not convinced is always down) but finding an exact pattern is excruciatingly painful.
For example: Mission 1 on Normal caps your armor at 472 crates' worth of armor pickups regardless of class. Then Mission 2 allows for 25 more crates' worth of armor pickups, then 27, then 26, and it just keeps pinballing between 25 and 28 at random intervals.
And then Fencer, at seemingly random points, allows for one additional pickup above the other classes.
