Also the higher tiered launchers do ridiculous damage.
The beacons also let you lock multiple missiles on a single target which can make things pretty nasty.
Ooo, that is good to know and useful for tougher enemies. It bugs me that the various auto-lock missiles cannot by default lock-on all missiles to the same target.
One particular variant of missile does an obscene amount of damage. The mid level one I have does 50000. Yes, that's not a typo, its 50000 in one hit. I've seen the weapon charts and the highest level variant of that weapon does 100000.
This is particularly useful on some maps where there are spawners that generate enemies infinitely that are really tough, but the enemies are not aggressive until you start attacking them. Being able to one shot the spawners before the enemies can react makes those battles a lot easier.
Also not bad for maps where you're being chased by massive numbers of Hectors.
Beacons give you lock-on distance, the lasers give you lock-on speed.
The higher the level the better the bonus.
Beacon guns are also much shorter ranged than the laser guides but can be used as a fire and forget weapon.
For example if you have a missile in flight, and the target you are aiming at dies, you can move the laser to another new target, and the missiles will change target.
You can't do that with Beacons.
I adore the fork launchers for ****ing up single targets (They suck vs Red Drones though, since they get knocked away from the missile swarm per missile hit), but they are generally no good for most dropships because they fly out of it's range.
Fork launcher specifically doesn't exactly need the help in lock speed, but oh goodness a "single target" weapon with an average range of 250 by default can seriously fell like it's falling short in a crowd.
Fork Launchers do more total damage than the Air Tortise line, and all the Prominence outside of the Ultimate Final Prominance MA that jumps from 5k to 15,000 yeesh. Though it lacks a boom radius.
Do any of the Air Rader toys speed up the missiles themselves? I admit I never used Air Raider a ton. So if they could make Air Tortise or Prominence missiles fly fast, oh man.
