What's the torch do?

Other than the fact that it's a frickin' blowtorch with an ACOG scope on it, what reason would you take it? It seems to do no damage to anything, even listing it as "negligible."Can it be used to repair vehicles that air raiders drop or something?

I used the Super Acid Gun to farm a mid-Inferno mission because of the way it arcs - I was able to kill some Hectors behind a building that they for some reason can't destroy by arcing it over the rooftop.

Since this thread has been revived again I'd like to counter that Super Acid Gun does not pierce.

It's a very powerful gun that's useful all the way until you get an AF100, but it does not pierce.
