Dragon King
Took me 20min to bring the fcker down with only 5hp remaining. 4th try. Used Stinger 2 (cuz of velocity) with ranger. Normal diff.
I aimed pretty well and hit him with most of my shot, but it was long af, and ai bots were long gone already. Also his red mist hitbox is the less accurate i've seen in a game. The most annoying boss in history. Thx to his absurd life pool, I was almost thinking I did it wrong and the objective was something else than shooting him.

Any advice is welcome for next encounter.

It takes 63 stringer shots to kill Greater Wild Dragon on normal mode with that first stringer you used. What you should have used was any of fusion blasters you had on ranger that you can find in assault rifle column, the fusion blaster is literally highest dps weapon in game even none of other classes have a weapon quite like it, but it can't be reloaded. On easy mode using same 1st stringer it would be 38 shots. On Hard Mode you get stringer J2 which does 3000 with 3sec reload, and it only takes 25 stringer shots to kill which is huge difference. On Inferno it with stringer J9 18000 damage, it only takes 20 shots to kill dragon. So as you can see normal mode is just pretty badly balanced on when it comes to very high health targets like dragon boss, Huge hives, and the Argo because they all have very large amounts of health. You see there's also a gimmick to fighting bosses, because of how easy the dragon boss is to hit in air due to his size and him not being a danger in close range he's given a very annoying AoE attack that's meant to be annoying if ur not doing enough damage, every 7% of its health it loses it gets stunned for a second, this stun animation interrupts its attack, that is best way to fight a dragon boss is to nail it with as much high damage you can give it. But most of normal mode weapons is just bad for that particular mode, there damage scale is very low, the fusion blaster is only thing the ranger has thats incredibly high damage. The only way to avoid the dragons fire without dealing huge damage is by flying up with wing diver, standing on top of buildings makes it easy to fight from, air raiders vehicles can shield u from damage with its high durability, air raider also has special equipment that can put protective walls that can block the fire, and fencer has shields that can block, reflect and reduced the damage of the fire. With ranger unless you have an air raider buddy lending you a vehicle the best way to deal with dragon is just by doing huge amounts of damage especially when it looks like its about to attack.

Anyway normal mode is fine when your fighting small fry enemies, just when you fight boss type enemies the balance is almost 3x worse than every other mode. That's because easy mode and normal mode shares exact same weapons. basically easy is easy, and normal is hard mode of easy.

Ahh right the boss has 31393 health,
The first level 2 fusion Blaster unloads 22500 damage that won't be enough to kill it but its still has very good dps for stunning when it gets nearby and weaken it by 2/3 which could make using stringer more reasonable.
Then there's level 12 fusion blaster G1 you can find in normal mode, that does 52,500 which is more than enough to kill it oh and if ur worried about 2nd dragon, don't be the 2nd dragon ( Which appears on hard+above)is actually nerfed by 70% of its health and attack compared to 1st one you see making it much easier to stun and kill, also u could probably kill both with fusion blaster G1 anyway. Ahh in case your new to using fusion blaster, you must weapon switch to stop firing the weapon, once you fire it won't stop until u weapon switch, only need to do this if target gets out of your range. Knowing that you should be able to finish Dragon in matter of seconds instead of minutes. Ahh right there's a ( 3rd dragon on inferno that weakened by 80% in health and attack.)

I completed the main game, but never encountered a dragon king. Is he part of the DLC? I ask because I haven't finished the DLCs yet.

Thx for all these msot welcomed and valuable information ! I happened to be in the worst possible scenario (which i wont replay). I have the blaster but when I read "not reloadable", I instaquit the idea of using it ahah.
Thx for the tips ! Actually since I started the game on normal, I'm ready to face easy (for chill grind and arsenal completion), than back to hard.
I'm currently stuck at mission 86.

If you were playing online, maybe other players took him down before you even saw it coming ahah. I don't have dlc so you must have missed him.

Greater Wild Dragon shows up late in the main game, in exactly one mission. Since his mission even has voice lines talking about him, he likely spawns even on Easy mode, but I do not remember if he does.

He also spawns in at least one DLC.

He's just a REALLY big Dragon with a much more dangerous fire breath.

Two missions, though I think the second one is online exclusive.
awww... started to read thinking you enjoyed the fight lol
Anyway... he's the dragonn king. It is supposed to be hard.

It would be like garabage to have an easy dragon boss in any game. =/

use the railgun tank, shoot its wings when it fall to the ground call air support. also put auto turrets on top of the tank to help rid off the small ones.
