For massacres everything is pretty clean until sam comes to massacre them again.
theres one big story to be had from ALL the FPS serious sam games (not entirely sure of the indie games like random encounter and double D XXL as i dont have those) but as far as the FPS ones go:
mental invaded and killed humans to the brink of extinction, sam activated and went through the timelock, went to the past to stop mentals invasion, mental ALSO sent troops to the past to stop sam cause im guessing that the timelock had a delay compared to what mental used to teleport back in time, so sam goes on a tee total rampage through mentals forces across half the world to put an end to him, avenge the human race including his friends hellfire, rodrigo, and jones, and restore order to the world, after he ran across half the world, killed ugzhan and mentals armies, and mental wasn't where he was supposed to be at the cathedral but mordekai instead, sam wipes him out and takes the holy grail. after all that sam was summoned by the "sirian great council" to collect 5 pieces of an ancient medallion to stop mental once in for all, comedy ensues through tons of amazing worlds and the serious sam universe is expanded on more. sam fights through more hordes only to find mental's STILL not where hes supposed to be and finds out the entire thing was a hoax set up by some nerd fans and were left with one of the worst anticlimatic endings to a serious sam game, so sam is still left to hunt down and take out mental
its WELL worth paying attention to the entire storyline cause its just brilliant, its a bit like a cartoon where in the end the bad guy ALWAYS gets away but the commentary is great....im just hoping they get on to making serious sam 4 and dont skip on the plot cause thats a bit of what i enjoy the SS games for, the storyline consistancy....i mean mostly the intense action but theres story to be had.
I own almost all the serious sam games besides the next encounter which was stolen from me and the indie games, but I have the classic TFE and TSE as well as revolution, HD TFE and TSE, SS2 and SS3, i even have TFE and TSE in jewel cases cause I always support croteam on their efforts. its a wonderful series and well worth paying a lot of attention to.
then again though i could be very wrong cause the next encounter mental has a "personal time-lock" and told evil sam not to use it, but TNE happened after TFE and TSE so by now mental knows sam jumped around using the time-lock and probably mimic'd the time-lock so he could do it too.
the point is theres a huge storyline involved thats enjoyable if you pay attention to that sort of stuff :D and theres sure to be people to have conversations with about it too if you noticed lol.
With that said, it's most certainly non-canon and it's better that way.
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
Storyline consistency....AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Well, that was the best joke I read today. Besides the story of SS.
If you actually pay attention, read every netricsa entry in all games, you easily find out, that the storyline have ZERO consistency, and is full of glaring plotholes, between SS3 and SS1/SSHD, or even between SSHD/SS1 and SS2. Hell, seeing that Croteam is considering a complete ground-up remake of SS2, I think it is safe to say that SS2 is no longer canon. Which really what it mostly was always, because it just threw out every story and lore from SS1, and then made up its own ♥♥♥♥.
When it comes to the story, Croteam have a REALLY long way to go; and seeing how we had two games of similar style since the release of SS3 (Shadow Warrior and Wolfenstein: The New Order), having incredibly good story and writing, Croteam really have to step up their game high time now, otherwise the series might be left behind.
Edit: I didn't play Wolfenstein: TNO for the story either. xD
Yeah, working out, literally! xD
