Does second encounter include the first encounter?

I was looking at picking up Serious Sam HD the first encounter. The first review on the page says that Second encounter includes the campain from First encounter. Is this true? I wanted to get the first one as i loved the original way back when. Not terribly concerned with the second. But if second encounter includes the first for another dollar, of course i'd just get that.

Second Encounter does include the Egypt levels from TFE however not the achievements.

yes, The Second Encounter does include the missions/levels from The First Encounter (as well Karnak demo level), however you need to purchase The First Encounter on Steam first in order to unlock them. if you don't buy The First Encounter, then you can play only missions from The Second Encounter

it is a bit complicated:
1) "The First Encounter" game has only The First Encounter missions...
2) "The Second Encounter" game has both The First Encounter & The Second Encounter missions...

and as @pferreira86 correctly said - both games have separate achievements/leaderboards/servers - so consider it =)

Didn't know about having to buy both to get the TFE levels in TSE. Interesting.

Nice. Thanks for the through answer. That's what it sounded like. The person who wrote that likely already had the first on steam, therefore all the first levels in the second.

from the publisher/developer's point of view - it wouldn't make much (monetary) sense to sell a game that has a content from other game for free. like if TSE had all content from TFE for free, then there would be no gain

if you don't have TFE, afaik, instead of showing those TFE levels, TSE will just show blank space in leaderboards and "Egypt" campaign will be greyed out

those two games are always sold in one bundle and no wonder people always get both games at the same time. that's is my story too - bought a bundle with HD, Classics and Revolution
