Update #19 now on beta branch
For those who are on the beta branch in Steam, the new update 19 should be available.

It contains a number of bug fixes (incl. slayer constitution), minor balance changes (e.g. save the dwarven king is now slightly easier). The game is now fully localized in German as well.

The biggest addition is a new hero though: please welcome the gnome mage, who is a master of offensive elemental spells. It's difficult to get him right so he's interesting to play but not too good, so any feedback is welcome.

He currently has an emphasis on AoE spells but his fire spells (the most damaging) cause exhausion, which temporarily lowers his max health.

That's cool, so finally a Gnome survived from a Dwarven nursary? :-)
Downloading, will try tomorrow, can I reuse save of a previous play?

This would allow test with a campaign already advanced, and hire a gnome in that context and quickly level up this gnome to test him higher level without to replay a full campaign (I'd prefer avoid that for a beta).
I quoted multiple sentences in german, including mission events in german. I checked my steam setup for the game is english, and anyway there's many sentences in english. I won't be able play this beta.
A new build should be available on beta that addresses this. Thanks for pointing this out!

The game version beta get the update but there's still the problem in missions. The mission where party met mythical creatures, the event was fine, but final message after combat was in German.

Another event was full in German since the start. Choose blindly during events, lost all the charm. :-) I'll keep this save to see if a new update fix it.


One point to quote is it's plays from save at keep done with non beta version of the game.

Thanks, is it a general problem or it's per case? I could provide snapshots for each case seen, and send them in a zip. The problem when it's event choices, this is discouraging to continue play.

From a first short play with the Gnome mage, 2 combats, enemies immunities aren't clear. I suspect some skill description evoke knockdown but don't use the word.
I played a full mission, and didn't notice anymore German text. It was 5 or 6 combats with a Gnome mage level 2, but level 3 mission with other heroes level 6. So it was a lot too easy and not really significant. I allowed me level up the mage to 3.

In that context I can't say much, the AOE area are small so often you target only one enemy, and AOE with random effects targeting fe enemies tend not work because of the random. But bad context for the first test, plus myself I never felt AOE working that well in game combats. Could be my fault.

I just got an itch to get back to the game (my last playthrough crashed on the quadruple-boss-monster fight), and was pleasantly surprised to see work on it continues.
Played a second mission with the beta, this time a level 4 mission, Gnome mage level 3, Assassin level 4, and Warrior, Healer and Slayer all level 6. More fun than the too low level previous mission, even if overall the team was dominating.

1. Slayer cons/morale seems fixed
For Slayer there's a huge change, I believed have notice that perhaps a skill was generating damames to cons/morale, but from this second play, I don't think so anymore.

2. I wonder if there isn't a new problem for Assassin morale at kill
From this play I felt there was something wrong with the Assassin not getting morare bonus at multiple kill for no reason, obviously it wasn't a matter of morale max reached. I have a video recording butI wasn't checking that specifically.

3. Comment about the new class
Desîte the gnome was only level 3 (but fully equipped and trained, in context of a dominating party, he behaves rather well. Skills picked, Arcane Blast, Arcane Explosion, Ice Sphere, Ice Floor, Aftershock, Explosion, Metor, Fire Burst.

Some possible bugs, or weird points:
  • I noticed multiple cases where an AOE wasn't applied to a diagonal. It's already hard to get any AOE, this limitation should be fixed/removed. I have a video including the cases.
  • Meteor really looks like an AOE from animation, and it isn't, that's weird.

Some gameplay comments:
  • Overall I found the new Gnome mage useful, he is about AoE, mana management, various attacks that can't be dodged. He is definitely a different long range option. But for now I felt him less fun than all other classes.
  • All gnome AOE should allow aim a ground square, that would extend the AOE possibilities that are curently a bit rare or hard to trigger.
  • About Ice Floor, at first with the 50% chance I felt it very weird, but it uses a few mana and not an action. So at end i found it interesting, I think for building diversities the Gnome coud have another spell like that, applying another effect and perhaps spending a few more mana.

4. An old Mac bug still present
Not a hugely important bug but bothering because it is triggered when switching to window then back to fullscreen, and this is a the only way to switch to another application. The roster list overlapse the whole left of the UI, heroes are drawn above and bellow roster list top and bottom limits.

Hey dev, you should add the updates w/ changelog on the store page. I thought the game was abandonned after release until I saw this thread.
