Win 10 error

Hello, please help. When I try to start Mafia, it shows only white screen and error.

Download the freeware Indeo codec[13]
Input your actual screen resolution and refresh rate in the Setup launcher[14]
Set Fullscene antialiasing to "OFF" in setup.exe

Windows 10 no longer allows 'Indeo codec' to be installed.
Anyone got alternative solution?

Thanks but that didn't help. Also I notice the log.txt file appeared

Whar error do you have? 4205?

If so, go to the main location - \ProgramFiles\Steam\steamapps\common\Mafia\Mafia and lauch setup.exe.
Then choose 800x600 resolution and turn off anti-aliasing & Truecolor.
Then select the low resolution and 'compressed' option on the right side.

Try this one. This is an official solution that I've found on the 2k website, but what I know, Hardware Acceleration is being phased out so increasingly doesn't appear in settings, so..

'Go to Start, then Run, and type 'dxdiag' (without the quotes). When the Direct X Diagnostic tool window opens, click on the Sound tab.
Look about half way down the screen for an area labeled Direct X Features, and a slider for Hardware Sound Acceleration.
Move this slider two notches to the left to set the acceleration at Basic.
Exit, and start up the game.
If you still have trouble, go back into the Direct X Diagnostic Tool and change the acceleration to None'.

Maybe it'll help you to find that 'slider'.

yes I installed DirectX many times, no Idea what to do next also, Install Windows XP maybe :D

If you are getting D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE in the log.txt file (as does comment #5), then you can try using dx8 to dx9 translator dll from https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases. Download d3d8.dll of the latest release and place it in the game folder.

This assumes you have dx9 working.
