Ambush chest questions
What exactly is the hierarchy of chest quality? Wood<Metal<Silver<Gold?
Is there any way to increase the chance of better chests? I read agility and luck helps, does it matter which character?
Lastly, I read that actually disarming the trap gives better(or maybe more?) loot. Is this correct?

Edit-
Another question. Will ambush areas further into the dungeon give better loot than ones closer in? For example, one of the ones near Valley of the Ruined magic stone as opposed to the two near the actual entrance.

Yes, that's the heirarchy: wood / metal / silver / gold -- you get better items/enchants in the higher chests. It seems to be mostly random, but the longer you ambush, the higher the danger is and I thought something said this was correlated with better chests. Even so, you can definitely get a silver chest on the first bunch of mobs and a wood chest on the last.

I'm not sure that disarming makes any difference. Open Lock does scale off of AGI & LUK though. I believe it uses the character with the highest OL stat. So your future ninja is probably going to be the right one to have intuition (which gives +30 OL) as they will obtain the right stats to make good use of it. Some gear gives a bit of OL as well.

As best I can tell, each spot has a specific list of mobs that can show up and the treasure types are determined by the mob type.

Well, the kind of chests you encounter is dependant on the general area you in.
Mom has low chests generally while Mo-Ice has a high chance for golden chests. That one is of course, obvious...
Since i farm MOF quite frequently, i made some observations. There are 2 ambush spots to the north, simple spots. They do spawn other kind of units then the spots on the brides and the chests do yield different loot. Chest Quality seems the same, so do the enchanments on the items (up to like +11 is common, 13 rare, 17 extremely rare).
IF you go down into the molton area, with all these fire tiles, the enemys do change a bit again. Some are shared with the other spots (Like the Giant+a bug or two) and others are unique to that area (Pharao bug and 3-7 poison bugs). They seem to have the same drops.
So what kind of drops you get seem to be bound to the ambush spot type (Fire area, nrmal spots and bridge spots) while the quality is more or less the same.

Can not say too much about Palace or Mausoleum of ice. Palace is annoying due to buffing and Ice is well... Mythril Golems just hit too hard. Have to take a look on the area with the Lizard guys...

But still, it might be just my interpretion of the RNG i've got.
Might be that its just the generall area not the ambush spots themself.
