Unlocking the bottlemail class requires a dungeon monk and some patience because the enemy type it belongs to (called "weird") is quite rare and they don't appear on any normal maps.
That being said, you can relatively easily wait until you bring back some items from the story maps or dungeons, trees and rocks in particular work relatively well for stacking as stairs on top of the house since they are wider than a character while being tall.
I didn't use any characters. Like Fel said, I built a staircase on top of the tree using various objects like books, trees and rocks (they don't take damage when you jump on them either).
You need 2 bottlemails if you want to steal items from bosses, one to steal and throw the item, the other to confine to it.
killing 10 or 20 total will unlock the phantom to be created.
I do not know if yours count for the kills. Having the secret one will not count toward making your own. the achievements requires you to be able to create one yourself.
They do not appear in normal stages.
