So I guess this game buggy with a controller?
I personally play with a controller, in borderless window mode (looks like full screen but can alt tab without breaking games), and I am not getting those problems, so my guess is going towards one potential thing right now.
When you alt tab and/or when you tab back in, do you have your controler and keyboard at a neutral position (no key pressed asside from the ones for changing windows)?
From my experience, controlers tend to send weird inputs if you switch in/out of a game while a button is pressed or a stick is not at the default position.
Not sure if it applies to this game, but it did for a lot of older games, so that's one thing to check.
