The consensus is that it's a troll weapon, most of the "proof" were gotten through action replay devices or other cheats.
How do you get the Rainbow Shell, anyway? I confined Carona, killed Marona, confined a bottlemail in the Rainbow Shell with 100% steal chance, but after 3 turns the bottlemail left without taking the shell with him.
Are you sure the Shell didn't come with you? Maybe check Item Storage, it might be there or you've hit the hidden cap for items.
As for Gothic Chant, it seems to come with the Dark title (rank 1, I think you obtain it by having a high "Dark" counter on characters other than Marona or Ash, but not 100 because that gives Blaspheme instead.
Here's a screenshot that shows how to get rid of the two pillars. They already have the Dark title, no need to get the skill beforehand.

As for the Rainbow Shell, I made sure to delete few items and free space on the island, double-checked the shell wasn't receiving any protection, had 100% steal chance and still nothing, the shell was still on the map after the bottlemail left. Either I'm missing something important, or there's a bug preventing its capture.
Because not everyone played this game before on the other systems besides the orignal PS2.
Grumble, grumble.
Hopefully, I won't remember all the details I've read here when I finally get through the main story and play in the Another Marona storyline.
If anyone else makes a topic that may spoiler that section of the game, please do make sure I can tell besides the title.
2) You could tell by the title that there's probably a spoiler in this thread and you went in anyway? That's your fault.
3) Phantom Brave is years old. Aeris dies.
Please don't b8 in my thread.
I simply pointed out that spoiler warnings are needed for people who don't know everything about a game thing that they never ever knew.
This is a well known thing on nearly every forum ever on Steam, and other places.
I've gotten into trouble before for spoiling things.
Don't tell me you don't know how forums work.
You don't need to be rude, you don't need ot be insulting.
Posting Aeris dies makes no sense, since that is about as much a spoiler as saying "Rosebud is the name of his sled.", and this game is not even remotely as old as FF7.
If you think the title here gives away that it's a spolier for the Another Marona storyline, please tell me how.
I thought at first this was the Heliotrope thread or one of the other major ones.
Regardless, I asked very nicely. You have no reason at all to be rude to me back. Period.
Let alone accuse me of trolling. No one does that based on a nice message.
Bottom line, if I got in trouble for spoiling things before, don't berate me for warning you or others of the same.
You didn't spoil that much, everyone else did.
So, really, my message is for everyone, not just you.
I apologize if that was not clear.
Aditionnaly, even though there is no spoiler tag, the original post only speaks the name of the item in question, the name of an other item, and the name of a character, without giving any details about any of them, so it was fairly light in actual spoiler material, because you would not know what it means unless you actually already got to that part.
Given that it asks a specific question about getting a specific item, the answers are going to hold "spoilers", because the original poster obviously already got to that point, so it's not spoiling him/her.
From my point, if you keep reading after the first post in those circumstances, it's hard to take the "use spoiler tags" seriously, because those tags are meant for times where the discution doesn't need those details, or when part of the audience is highly likely to not be aware of some specifics.
I do understand the wish to read all new threads, I really do, but if you are concerned with spoilers, please keep in mind that what is considered "spoiler" depends on the context of the thread, and more specifically on what the original post asks.
Of course talking about a specific situation at a specific point in the story is going to result in post with content that would be spoiler if you didn't reach that point yourself, but from that thread's perspective at least, the only things that would actually be spoilers would be things from after that point, things that could have been missed before it, and the original post and its title if they are too generic (like if this was titled "how do I get this") or too precise and with spoiler in it ("How do I get X weapon from Y battle involving Z").
I personally don't care about spoilers usually, so I end up reading everything without filtering much if I have the time, but if spoilers are a concern for you, do try to restrict what threads you open when the titles are clear enough about asking something specific you didn't encounter (yet or at all).
I only tried to steal the Rainbow Shell from the... 4th battle? The first one it appears, I managed to remove the "no steal" (don't remember the name) protection by killing Marona and reviving her with a Healer, confined my lvl 2k Bottlemail, but yeah, 0% chance.
I do not mean to be that way.
I played a little bit of the Another Marona Storyline, to the second stage. That means I know about the Rainbow shell.
And I beat this game before on the PS2. So, while I am currently on my first playthrough on the PC, It's not my first time through.
Again, I'm sorry for coming across in a way I never meant to come across as.
It's just confusing to have been yelled at for spoiling stuff myself. :(
