If you really want to know how to break the game early on i'll tell you. Start by getting to chapter 3 and unlocking the titlist then you want to look for something with a failure title (just keep talking to marona to make characters until you find one. Crappy will also do but will be a bit toughter.)
Once you have the character made lift them and talk to marona to dismis that character forever. You will unlock the title to be transfered to another thing. Next make a dungeon that would normally be out of your reach however failure will drop the stats of the enemies in the dungeon by 80%. You will get 0 exp for these enemies but heres the thing, the items will be the same as a normal dungeon. So level 11 enemies can be dunked by level 4 dudebros but you'll be able to get the items from here and when you clear levels anyone who was in the level will get a ton of exp.
At this point you are going to want to get a bottlemail. Unlocking the bottlemail class will be too tedious for our purposes so instead what you are going to do is make a market dudebro at level 1 and buy a ton of items from him ( if you can't afford this just go steal level 1 items from the first mission, the bulkier the better. Trees and rocks are really good here.) You will begin making a stairway on top of your house until it says new record reached and unlocks a character.
Bottlemails have an amazingly high chance of stealing items from levels, when other characters have a 14 percent chance your bottlemail will have a 100% chance of taking it with them. From here your goal is to find a high level dungeon that you can complete at least one level of that says "Item: Tools" Then you just need to steal a minecart, they have so much speed that marona will end up taking 3-5 turns at a time. What's even crazier is that you can keep combining mine carts with fusion to make them faster and faster. You can now clear most of the story with marona alone.
Then you want to look at the type of stat the damage goes on. While there are many nature skills, for instance, some nature ones are based of Atk for damage while others are based of Int, and some even Res or Spd.
As you level up and get more mana on your weapons, upgrade and learn more attacks with the blacksmith. When you get beyond that, you can use the fusionist to start mixing skills from weapons or even fusing a weapon to a characrer so they can learn the skill natively.
Essentially you can do whatever you want as long as you grind enough. I would highly suggest looking up a video on how to get the bottlemail, as they can steal at a great level so you can grab any natural item during the story with ease.
also, huge tip; replay levels Often, when you go back to a level already beaten, you'll find characters with a yellow hp bar. These chars are neutral and will fight both you and the bad guy. When you defeat them, you can then make them once you go back to Phantom Isle.
Also, don't confine all of your phantoms too early. Sometimes waiting to confine at the right moment can make or break a battle. Know when you'll want to send out a phantom, and make sure to confine them to the right item. If your Owl Sentry is using a Starfish for Speed-based Vital skills, you will NOT want to confine them to a rock that lowers speed.
----------
As these guys linked above, there's ways to outright break the game. But I don't like breaking it til I'm mid-game/post-game so I have some semblance of challenge earlier on. Just do what you want and have fun. As long as you work with your blacksmith and fusionist, you'll do well.
1. Save your game. you'll want to save in case you run out of money and have no items to use.
2. Walk to a deserted part of the island.
3. Talk to Marona and 'Store' ALL of your items.
4. In that same spot go and summon every item. Now all of your items are next to you in one nice and neat spot, away from your people.
5. With Ash, walk up to the item that you want to get more mana on, and on your keyboard hit "J" to pick it up.
6. Proceed to walk to your various weapons and items and hit "X" on the keyboard to attack and kill them. You want to kill items and not people because there is a 'DARK' stat you get for killing your own people that you don't want to mess with early on.
7. Once you've killed a few, go to your healer and hit "X" to heal all of your team. This is why you save, as sometimes you may kill too many and not have money to heal your items, which then deprive your team from having equipment.
8. After healing, follow steps 1+ again. As when you destroy an item, you must re-summon it.
BEFORE LEAVING PHANTOM ISLE, RE-EQUIP YOUR PEOPLE CUZ WHEN YOU DESTROY ITEMS IT UN-EQUPS THEM
I hope this helps!!!
