Items give a lot less exp when destroyed, so you need to use very strong items to boost your stats and destroy items massively over your level to really get something out of it.
Confining your phantoms in high level items and clearing the floor is by far the fastest way to level them up, meaning that a failure dungeon is the way to go, preferably small floors, few enemies and a type of item that doesn't make your phantoms useless.
The multiplier from clearing floors in a row also applies so it quickly ramps up to ridiculous amounts as long as you can clear the enemies (Marona having the skill to exit can be a good idea just in case).
Make sure that you raise their level cap as well (by fusing higher level items into them) or you will end up getting stuck at their cap.
For Marona, make a low level dungeon (small floor, few enemies) with a high number of floors and quickly clear the floors.
She gains exp based on a percentage of the exp required for the next level with each floor clear and the multiplier from consecutive floors applies so if you can go for 40+ floors she will gain several levels per floor.
Though uhn... Yeah, leveling is slow in this game. I think a level 3000 character killing a lv 9999 character gains like... 5 levels or something.
On another note, if you're level 100ish, then I assume you're already on post-game, right? In that case I think you shouldn't bother with leveling for the time being.
Focus on doing post-game stages for now. They should give you some solid items that you can do failure fusion to your weapons to give you some tremendous stat boosts. You can keep on using post-game stages to increase your weapon's stats for quite a while in this game.
It's only after beating Zetta that you should rely on going up dungeons to get better items IMO... And at that point you should probably be able to handle lv 9999 dungeons, so your levels will be going up at a pretty good pace... And even then, you'll be getting like... 90-99% of your stats through items by this point, so your level won't be very relevant.
Overall, Phantom Brave is a game that relies a lot more on items than on characters, so try focusing on those I'd say.
Have corona holding a skull, confine a Mimic to the grass in the upper level of the map around the big bunch of slimes.
confine fusionist with gold staff on the left. Have her kill several slimes leaving just enough of them so the mimic gets a kill every turn.
confine bottle mail on golden staff when she leaves.
Confine titlist when bottle mail leaves.
