Easy mode?
I know I'm going to get flack for this, but is there an easy mode for people like me who aren't good at turn-based RPGs? I kinda just want to experience the story with little fuss.

There isn't an easy mode, but there are ways to completely trivialize the story maps by having characters and items with levels way higher than what the story can throw at you.

For the first few maps, you would want to only send a few phantoms (Ash, a witch and either an amazon or a fighter, or both) to give them levels faster.
You can replay earlier maps for a few extra levels in order to be able to clear the first chapters.

Your aim is to get a titlist, there are two ways to unlock that class, the normal way is to kill one during chapter 3, on the map called shining earth (it is a yellow character, meaning that it isn't required to kill him to complete the map, so kill it before killing the last red enemy).
The other way is to make a dungeon with "artisan" as enemy type and kill one there before exiting the dungeon by using the dungeon monk's skill (it costs money).
If you go for the dungeon way, make sure you have characters at least level 5, because even level 3 dungeons can have level 4 or 5 on the first floors, and levels make a lot of difference early on.

Once you get your titlist, you will want to talk to marona and look at all of the available phantoms you can create, you want to make a few with "failure" as their title, then lift them, talk to marona to erase the phantom and get the title.
You then make a dungeon with as high a level as you can (not more than 10 times your characters' level ideally) and use the titlist to apply a failure title to the dungeon.
You might want to have a dungeon with "small" floors and "few" enemies if possible because the aim is not to kill a lot of enemies but to clear floors relatively fast.

This will make enemies in the dungeon very weak (-80% on all of their stats), but they won't give any exp when killing them, but phantoms that get sumoned into high level items are going to get a lot of experience, shooting in levels rapidly.
If you can, try to take home a few items, but it's really not requires, so just summon as much as you can, kill all enemies for a few floors, and either exit by the dungeon monk's skill or by clearing the last floor (it can be a gamble because the last floor can have a boss, and even with lowered stats they can be dangerous, so you probably will want to exit through the dungeon monk's skill).

Repeat the failure dungeons a few times, with higher and higher levels as your phantoms get levels as well, until you get to levels like 200-300, you should also get a few items with the "combo" title from clearing floors (not every floor, but every now and then) that will be at the levels of those dungeons, so they should be potent enough to let you wreak your enemies as well even if they aren't superb.

If you can/want, try to fuse a few items into those for equip% (especially if those items have negative on speed, hp, defense or resistance), and you should be set to completely stomp the story maps all the way to the final boss.

It does mean that you will have to take a few hours of time on the setup, but none of those steps really require much skill in the battles, just remember to save frequently in case you went to a dungeon too strong for you.

Wow, that was a lot more information that I expected :o Very detailed. Still a shame there isn't a simple toggle option, but thank you!
