What happens if you kill the mysterious ghost on your island?

The character used to kill him will get a point in infamy, and you will get +1 to the count of his species you killed (unlocks his class after 10).

Unless you specifically want infamy and know how to minimize its negative effect, it's not really worth doing, but it's not the end of the world if you do either, as it's only 1 point, and the character serves no purpose aside from giving you access to tutorial prompts.
