That fixed it? It seems some games (Bioshock ones especially) don't like the overlay. I'm glad you got to finish the game with no more crashes.
same with you messing the ini file first, still crash but better smoother gameplay, and see random discuss here saying just turn off steam overlay, did that and voila smooth play till the end
Hey dumb dumb. The crashes are persisting from the original version. Not the remaster. So everything I said was right and everything you said was stupid. And wrong :)
You do know that you post that comment on bioshock 2 remastered right, not the bioshock 2 specificly(the store still there), and i do know if you search on that game discuss section there are already a lot of ppl helping there with alot of possible way to fix, instead of making ppl like me who can play smoothly by just dissabling steam overlay dumber then you, why dont u try the fix mention on this post and go helping with what ur experience with those fix
Wow. Learn to read. That is all. I win this.
1. Set TextureStreamingMemoryLimit=4096.000000 in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BioshockHD\Bioshock2\Bioshock2SP.ini
2. In Steam, right-click Bioshock 2 Remastered, click Properties, and uncheck "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game"
I know I am reiterating what people have said, but those two things, and only those two things, fixed the problem for me.
This fixed the problem for me, thanks! I also added -dx9 to the game start option, not sure if it made a difference but it hasn't crashed for me yet.
"This is my response from 2k support try these things i will also try tell me if it works for anyone
thank you for contacting 2K Support and for your interest in Bioshock 2. I can certainly understand how experiencing this issue might be frustrating so I'll certainly do my best to assist you however I can!
Firstly, would you kindly please do each of the following, to ensure that the game and all its additionally required software is properly installed:
Verifying Game Cache
· Load Steam.
· From the Library section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu.
· Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game cache” button.
· Steam will match the local files to the cloud files, and fix any errors it encounters.
Reinstalling DirectX
· In the Steam installation folder of the game you’re having trouble with, there will be typically be a DirectX setup package.
· Example file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bioshock 2\ _CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
· Find and run DXSETUP.exe
· Reboot the computer (mandatory)
Reinstalling Vcredist
· Navigate to your game’s steam folder – there will typically be a Vcredist folder.
· Example file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bioshock 2\ _CommonRedist\vcredist\2005
· Find and Run vcredist_x86.exe
· Find and Run vcredist_x64.exe
· Should the files already be installed, you will be prompted to either ‘uninstall’ or ‘repair’. Choose ‘repair’.
· Reboot the computer (mandatory)"

LOL no, reinstalling the game and the VC redist etc. won't fix anything since the bug is in game code. Play it more, and you'll see it will still crash, even though for some days/hours randomly it works fine but it's just random luck.
Remember to include your DXDiag.txt
