The Original Multiplayer was handled by GameSpy I think and that shut down long time ago. The multiplayer itself wasn't actually that bad.

Its been known that they will *not* bring back the multiplayer in the remaster version. That's why you still have the original game in case you do want to play it still.

i was playing the old bio 2 mp last night they use steam now but this one doesnt even have it...

I'm at least glad that they let us keep the original game and not force us on the remasters. Still, a shame that MP didn't get the remaster treatment.

They always advertised it (the remaster) as not having multiplayer. Not sure why not though. A free upgrade is more then enough for me anyway, with or without multiplayer.

No, the MP is P2P type, no servers or browser. And no host migration, if the host leave the match game over. That's the reason it's still kicking. It used GFWL not GameSpy, but ported to SteamWorks. Sadly they messed up a few things in the porting: the multiplayer progress not saved online, if you reinstalled your Windows the progress in MP gone! Also no way to mute players, which was easy in GFWL.
MP is maded by Digital Extremes, another studio. Not the same devs who made the SP, the DLCs is from another dev team.

You can save your multiplayer progress by backing a profile file stored in the Appdata folder... I keep a back up of it online exactly because of that reason.

The most obvious reason why 2K didn't include the multiplayer here is because it was handled by a different company

Most likely they'd demand a certain amount of money from each sale if they included it in this release. And 2K didn't see a need to include the multiplayer when nobody played it after the first month of the game's release.

Well crap, the multiplayer is the only reason I just installed this. I don't feel any desire to replay the single player mission, but I played the MP for months under GFWL (despite Owtakki's assertion, people did play). When it went to Steam there really was no one around to play anymore, so I was really hoping that the new version would revitalize the MP community for at least a little while.

The multiplayer was great! It's a deal breaker for me not buying this.

The MP was the most underrated MP I have ever played.

Agreed. It's laggy to all hell but surprisingly fun for a tacked on MP the game didn't need. The same is true for Assassin';s Creed and Batman Arkham Origins.

If its using the old engine prettey much, is it not possible to just copy some files over and have multiplayer in remastered or have multiplayer looking remastered ;)
