Minerva's Den "High Score" Spitfire Achievment?
Why in the world did the developers stick a muscle-twitch arcade mini-game into Minerva's Den as an Achievment (the High Score Achievement for scoring 9999 points in the Spitfire mini-game)? I don't buy those kinds of games, I don't play them (I suck at them), don't like them, and certainly can't see what it has to do with BioShock to such an extent that it's worth an Achivement. Yet, in order to get all my Achievements, I've got to play this miserable thing. I've tried both the keyboard and a controller to no avail (my high score is usually around 5000). The best tips I've found are to:

- not bother aiming, just avoid death while spamming the fire button
- try to destroy the "special" zero (or alien, or whatever) since it's worth more points

Does anyone else have some hints that might help? How about a console command to turn it into a game for twitch-deficient people like me?

Try CheatEngine's speedhack. No guarantees that it will work though.

I'm still wondering why do you people care about achievements. You don't have to play that part you know, it's basically a joke about inventing videogames in Rapture.

Yo, did you figured out how to get this easier? I also stuck there because the aiming in this mini game is annoying
Sorry. It's been over 5 years and even though I did manage to get the Achievement, I haven't got the slightest idea how. I assume it was nothing but blind luck and suffering through it until I got it (otherwise, I'd hope I'd have come back here and let other know).

I've just beaten it with a gamepad on my second try. It's much easier than using a mouse.

I've only played it for 2 minutes, and I've played the Den dozens of times. But Spitfires or whatever it is, is dull and stupid. So I ignore it. Easily done, don't even use the terminal. You don't need "achievements", each "achievement" is testament to hours you could have gone outside and actually achieved something with your life. A flower you could have smelled. They're a mark of shame. Don't chase them!

Really? It took me 5 minutes to beat the score. the Point is to spam fire and move up/down and left/right while staying on the same spot in center. Just watch to evade enemy bullets. If you have turbo button -- use it.

I've been doing it for an hour and so far the max I can get is about 7500. The controls are too sluggish. They should have lowered the score to 5-6000 or so.

I was struggling to get good score using keyboard, but now with a controller on my hand, I have the achievement in one go, so... get a controller. That's the best option I would say as it allows you to move freely compared to keyboard.

To get mine I used TrueAchievements website. It tells you where the machine is and how to get the high score. Took me two tries. Just keep at it.
