Bioshock really didn't need a remaster. The originals are still well playable. That said I'd go with the new one, I find the textures a little more vibrant.

The originals. The remasters, while looking kind of better, the crashes are crazy.

the file size difference is pretty crazy too. but you have to use compat mode to get b2 to work on windows 10, havent been able to play both on it so does the original version crash a lot on 10 as well? cause it was one of my more reliable games on xp3

Having tried original and remastered on WIndows 10 I personally vouch for remastered. So far I have not crashed once playing the updated version. By this point in the original game I had given up due to being unable to so much as kill one splicer without crashing...

both crash here

If we are only talking about Bioshock 2, the original. At least that one doesn't crash like Paul Walker.

And it is going to stay that way too, because it seriously looks like the remaster has been abandoned as far as support goes.

It varies, I had a lot of crashes in the original B2 but in the remaster I didn't crash at all in the main game, only Minerva's Den.

There has been very little visual change compared to the Bioshock 1 remaster, mostly just fixing clipping errors.

The PC version of BioShock 2 is a ♥♥♥♥♥ and a half to get working to today's standards.
Crashes?
Do a bunch of ini/config changes until it doesn't.
Or you might be ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Mine used to force me into DirectX 9 mode to even consider not crashing, which also for some reason forced 1024x768.

Looks bad? Popping textures?
Probably because of the changes you had to do.

FoV?
Flawless Widescreen.

Mouse problem?
Have fun.

Remastered mostly fixed that stuff.
Only problems are so called "occasional" crashing (that I've never experienced in BioShock 2 Remastered, only the 1st), and a still slightly clunky mouse.

If you manage to be one of the people who don't experience problems the remasters are much better.

Otherwise you will be fine to use the originals. (Even though the original BS2 was a crash fest too)

I would agree that if you can get the remasters to work, go with them. This is my first playthrough of BioShock 2 despite the fact that I purchased the collection in 2015. I noticed that there are more achievements to collect in the original compared to the remaster (59 or so compared to like 31). I might play both to get all the achievements.
