Which is better: Bioshock or Bioshock Remastered?
I want to get back into Bioshock but the thing that worries me is that the remastered may be too drastically different from what the original founded.

What do you mean by too drastically different? It's the same game. The remastered version just has slightly better audio, graphics and lighting, increased FOV and more compatible to higher specs PC and consoles. The only new thing is the achievements, developer commentary and gallery of concept art.

I remember seeing a comparison video to the aftermath of the plane crash the stairwell looks a little too different from the source material.

So what? What's not to like? They replaced the old textures with higher resolution ones and higher polygon counts meaning better graphics and better character modules. Plus physics in the remastered version is not locked at 30FPS (increased to 60FPS) so characters move more naturally. The story is the same. Any changes you see in the environment are so minor it's not even noteworthy, but it adds up to making Rapture look more realistic and it enhances the atmosphere. It feels a lot more immersive than the original. Especially since FOV was increased up to 180° (instead of 100°)

If you don't like the idea of a re-polished Bioshock, play the original.

It’s a great remaster, not a rework of the game itself just makes it more immersive and beautiful.
