(Fixed): Goes To Start Menu After The Plane Crash
(Edit): Setting the game's screen resolution to 1280 x 768 (widescreen) fixes it.

--

When Jack attempts to surface the water after the plane crash, instead of reaching the top and allowing me to swim. The camera shoots back down, he makes suffocation sounds, the screen turns white and the game goes directly to the Start Menu.

I know the Remastered was glitched, but I can't even play the damn thing. Anyone else have this problem? Or know a fix?

Most peolpe are playing the game without issues. And those who are having issues, need to learn to search the forums and guides.

Yup, I've looked around on this issue earlier and haven't found anything. I'll check again in a few.

It's a very strange glitch. It almost looks like the water is too high for him to reach.

This remains among the only mentions of this particular glitch in forums and guides (despite the Smeg troll's boilerplate)

Did you resolve it?

I have the same issue. If anybody has any feedback it would be appreciated. The bug is still there after the latest patch.

I have just found out the solution today.
Setting the game's screen resolution to 1280 x 768 (widescreen) fixes it.
I have no clue how or why. It seems as though any resolution higher makes Jack lag on his way to the surface, then he drowns. I really hope this helped you. If not, I'll look into different fixes.

I had to set the resolution to 640 x 400 in order to get past the opening sequence. But once I was inside the lighthouse, I set the resolution back up. Now it works fine. Except that the game just crashed when I entered the Medical Pavilion. ^^ But from what I've read, frequent crashes are normal for the remastered version? So whatever. At least I got past the death glitch!

Yep, setting the resolution to the lower settings helped me get past this as well. Thanks for posting how to deal with this, it was annoying me and I didn't see it talked about elsewhere as a main bug people were dealing with.

Wow, thanks a lot Princess Daisy, it work for me, now i return to a better resolution before the plane crash, it was very frustrating so i play much of the game in the original version but well now the replay will have the extra of the graphics :boneheaded:

Thanks man! I can't tell you how frustrating I was becoming. The audio stops playing after the crash in the original for me, and now this in the remastered? Thanks man, hope there are no more bugs going forward.
