Harvest vs Rescue---damn little sisters
First played this on the original release.

Still cannot bring myself to harvest the little sisters.
Only ever seen the good ending in the original.

Anyone ever found an advantage in harvesting them, apart from more adam ?

The entire concept of "Choice" Within bioshock is stupid

while you get a better ending for saving the ugly ♥♥♥♥♥, you are putting yourself at a 100% disadvantage

Just harvest them unless you want to die alot

Who cares about a 2 minute cutscene at the end. I would prefer to have more fun during the game.

This is nonsense, there's little disadvantage to saving them as opposed to harvest overall.

If you harvest them, you get more initially from each sister, but you don't get the teddy bonuses with 200 adam that you routinely get many times as appreciation for freeing them, so it really works out close to even either way from an adam perspective, at least past the mid way point.

See here: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2007/08/little-sisters-save-or-harvest-we-break-down-the-best-approach-for-adam/

Aside from starting on survivor, the game is really not that difficult where less adam early on should impact you significantly.

Just more adam and the bad ending.
It wouldve been interesting if the Big daddies health or damage output increased the more little sisters you harvest

I did two different walkthroughs in the vanilla game and found that harversting them gives more Adam, eventually. The teddy bears compensate, but not much. In the end you'll get more with the "evil" option. However, as said above, tougher Big Daddies would have been interesting.

No. You get more benefits saving them.

Harvesting three little sisters nets you 480 ADAM but at the loss of extra ammo, health, tonics, or plasmids. Rescuing three little sisters nets you 240 ADAM but you gain an additional 200 ADAM from the teddy bear plus supplies and plasmids.

Interesting. Then I'm glad I'm picking the "save" option in my current walkthrough of the remastered edition.

Anybody encountered a bug where picking up the first plasmid at the docks (after killing the first BD) causes a crash?

It was supposed to be a choice between morality and acquisition of power but they chickened out. You either were supposed to be "morally right" but weaker or reprehensible but strong. Unfortunately, the gifts they give you makes you stronger by saving them thanks to the gifts of ammo and plasmids/tonics you can't get elsewhere.

i've played the game 3 times now that the remaster is out, saved them all three times and not once have I ever run out of ADAM, you always have far more than you need or can equip past the first level or two.

You might not be able to max out every plasmids you don't use in the game but you'll be full of everything else and have a big daddy bodyguard on top of it.

once you know the outcome, ie. rewards, its an easy choice, always save the sisters
the ADAM isnt really the important thing here, its the rewards,
in total if save all LS vs harvest the net ADAM diff is only 280, barely neglible, (3080 saved, 3360 Harvest)
but those teddy bears.. nom nom nom! plasmids, gene tonics, freebie rewards that will save your life galore! no contest
Neptune's Bounty (1st LS): Hypnotize Big Daddy Plasmid; 12 Armor-piercing Pistol Rounds.
Arcadia (1st LS): Safecracker Tonic; 12 Electric Buck.
Fort Frolic (1st LS): Hypnotize Big Daddy 2 Plasmid; 4 First Aid Kits.
Hephaestus (1st LS): 4 EVE Hypos; 6 Proximity Mines.
Olympus Heights (1st LS): Armored Shell 2 Tonic; 12 Incendiary Bolts.
Apollo Square (2nd LS): Prolific Inventor Tonic; 150 Liquid Nitrogen.
Point Prometheus (3rd LS): 100 Antipersonnel Auto Rounds; 4 First Aid Kits.
how can u say no to all that over measly 280 extra ADAM you were gonna spend on what? something silly like Cyclone trap or some useless tonic?,,
naaaa... Teddy Bears all teh way, Teddys FTW :tgrin:

+(if you're being a naughty Jack, you exploit the engine and get 4 extra sisters to rescue, getting 320 more ADAM, more than you need for anything thats useful or good)

Yeah, the Big Daddy bodyguard 2 plasmid (or whatever it's called) keeps him in your service for a long time. I hardly ever used it until the remaster, couldn't believe how long he hung around, it's a massively powerful plasmid.
Coldflame Sep 18, 2016 @ 12:27pm
adam isn't actually as important as the game would lead you to believe

the only things really worth buying are tonic slots, health&eve upgrades, and upgraded standard plasmids. the optional plasmids are situational at best and the upgraded standard ones become available very cheaply if you don't buy them at their first appearance (ex. electro bolt 2 is available for 20 adam later on despite being in the triple digits in its first appearance).

adam-bought tonics are a mixed bag, but generally research and found tonics are better
gNuff!~©~gNom3™ Sep 18, 2016 @ 12:38pm
indeed, all you really "need" is ligthning bolt and fire to thaw ice stuff
Wintersblas is nice, but dont technically need it, tho cheap enough to buy, but besides that, its the ONLY plasmid you will ever need to buy
heck you dont even have to spend ADAM upgrading lightning or fire or WB (tho upgrading LIghtning and WB is both very nice)
since just as you say, its the Gene Tonics that does the trick
proper tonics and you are damn near invisible, swap out for situational stuff with tonics too and even better,
free hp from hacking, eve when using medkits, even when drinking alcohol so you can drink eveyring now
or how about 1000% wrench dmg, that will one shot any splicer caught unaware, or a tonic that makes you invisible so you can snipe and one shot splicers with the crossbow
first priority should be maxing out Tonic slots, that will cost you like 900 adam or so, (tho you can just start with maxing out Physical and Combat, engineering makes somethings easier yea, but the only great ones are the stacking venodr ones)
then you go for the HP and Eve upgrade slots, and you dont "need more than 3 plasmid slots, but if you go for Lightnigh+Winter+Tlekinesis+Daddy then 4 is nice (notice how i left fire out, since you only need that to thaw stuff or occasional boss battle that is covered in oil, other than that you dont "need" to use a plasmid slot for it, so can save the ADAM)

remember you can travel back to "old" area where you didnt buy the upgrades and buy the health+eve upgrades you left there

Didnt have to scroll far, literally was gonna say the same thing. The Teddy bonus with 200 adam happens every 3 little sisters you save (at least in the beginning.) You also get a tonic and some ammo with the Teddy, I have found that saving them is worth it. PLUS you get an achievment for saving them all.

That is totally what happened. The choice is completely toothless.
