How to get high quality graphics with the lack of in-game settings.
It seems that many people don't know that by default some settings are not the highest they could be. With the lack of in-game settings you will have to go into your game files and manually change these things. Though there is an article that discusses this, it seems not many read it seeing as Steam forums are riddled with "it doesn't look much different" debates (so this is more a public service announcement rather than my own discovery).

Find:
C:\Users \[yourusername] \AppData \Roaming \BioShockHD \BioShock.ini

Scroll ALL THE WAY down and when at the bottom start slowing scrolling up.

You will see default things like:

DynamicShadowDetail=Medium
or
UseHighDetailSoftParticles=False

Change things like this to "High" and "True" and keep looking around for any other settings that might seem to increase quality (with the lack of settings in-game, I won't lie when I say this may take some trial and error). Take note of what you saved for future reference (otherwise you'll have to delete the .ini file and restart (worst case you'll have to reinstall)), save, exit, and enjoy Bioshock Remastered at a higher quality.

EDIT: Lister of Smeg has shared an invaluable guide for help with these tweaks.

Something like this should be pinned, too many people are debating/complaining without knowing these things can be changed but just not in-game.

Those "hidden" options tend to crash the game more than usual, if you value those save game files, use with caution.

This /\ JOGAN is why I feel the devs left out the options from being changed in-game.

Though it's plenty b.s. (EDIT) for PC gamers. (as in it's bs we can't change them.)

Those hidden options were there in 2007 and fixes alot of issues and still do the same.

Thank you for sharing. But is there a way to make it so that the game does not change your difficulty? I have already looked through various .ini files both through the Appdata passage and the Steam folder. I can't see anything that has a difficulty parameter.

Update
Never mind, I launched the game and tried loading a save - then when I went back into the appdata .ini file, it is suddenly there. What the heck?

IF you mess up, you can probably just delete the .ini's and then either restart the game or verify game cache to get the originals back.

No need to completely redownload and reinstall the entire game.
