"Please Install Windows 7 Service Pack 1"?? [FIXED]
Anybody got this message when launching game? I've already installed Windows 7 service pack 1 3-4 years ago! And any other update after then! And the game doesn't launch, it always says "install service pack 1".

I've been searching for a while and I can't see anybody with this problem with this message ("Please Install Service Pack 1").

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIX (at least for me with Windows 7+SP1. This fix is for W7, so people with W8 or W10 I guess this won't work, basically because this updates are for W7):

Note 1: Do it at your own risk.

Note 2: This fix is only if you are using Windows 7 +Service Pack 1 and the game doesn't launch and says "Please Install Service Pack 1".

Note 3: The problem is a SP1 bad installation issue, not a Bioshock Remastered issue.

It seems the problem (which is: the game ask you to install SP1 when you already did it) is that I already installed Service Pack 1 some years ago, but I installed it wrong (don't ask me why).

To check that, you need tu run winver.exe command, and look to the compilation number. If it says "compilation 7600" that means you installed SP1 in a wrong way or files are bugged or whatever it is.

To fix it, read this page,

How to Update Windows 7 All at Once with Microsoft’s Convenience Rollup
http://www.howtogeek.com/255435/how-to-update-windows-7-all-at-once-with-microsofts-convenience-rollup/

Basically, what he explains is a way to make a fast and clean update of Windows 7.

To that, you simply need two updates (assuming you already have SP1 installed. If you don't have SP1 installed, read the first link):

1. April 2015 “Servicing Stack” Update (chose 64bit or 32bit): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3020369

and

2.Windows 7 SP1 Convenience Rollup (Chose 64-bit or 32-bit):

64bit:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/updt/2016/05/windows6.1-kb3125574-v4-x64_2dafb1d203c8964239af3048b5dd4b1264cd93b9.msu

32bit:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/updt/2016/05/windows6.1-kb3125574-v4-x86_ba1ff5537312561795cc04db0b02fbb0a74b2cbd.msu

Then, install the first update (Windows6.1-KB3020369-x64 / 9mb) and second install the second update (windows6.1-kb3125574-v4-x64...... / 488mb).

I recommend reading the first link, to know what you are doing if you decide to do it.

Then check again with winver.exe, and now it should say "compilation 7601". Try run Bioshock now, and it should run).

Hey, this got it too run for me without crash on lauch, go too too remastered .exe in your steam files right click and go too properties and under compatibilty and change it too Windows XP (Service Pack 3). I noticed thats what my remastered Bioshock 2 was on and it was running fine.

yeah, already tried it. But it says "Bioshock Requires Windows 7 or Higher" and doesn't start neither.

Try unchecking the run in combatibility thing/box right above it. Idk man, just saying what worked for me with this issue.

No. I only get that message if I run the game in compatibility mode for Windows 7.
