Is there a way to manually cap your framerate?
Hi.
I have a good system. Good PC and a really good TV (supports 4k/120hz. I can run the game at 4k, at 120fps.
HOWEVER, I know this may sound counterintuitive, but I would like to see what the game looks like played at 60 fps.
I've tried playing other games at 4k at 120 fps, and for some reason, maybe it's my eyes, or I don't know -but 60 fps looks smoother than 120 fps. I think the only exception was the Portal Games. But I've tried other games, like Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3. Fallout NV, Fallout 4,etc. And somehow they all look better, SMOOTHER at 60 fps.
I may be way off the mark here, but I'd like to try it at least.

TLDR
How can I set the framerate to 60 fps (in the game-, console commands and such)?

I don't think there is a console command for it, but I would recommend downloading a program called RivaTuner Statistics Server. This program can display, and limit the FPS of any given game.

Hmm. Ok. I'm trying to use a solution that doesn't require downloading anything. I'll keep your suggestion as a last resort. But I was hoping there was a setting, or a console command.

I know there may be some very straightforward ways of "preventing" the frequency from going higher than a certain number, on the Video Card directly, or on the TV I'm using, directly. But as I said, I was hoping for a setting, or just a tweek.

Nvidia/or Radeon control center or whatever is called in your language then 3d settings there are global options and program options you can search for bioshock.exe then down among the list of option there is a setting called maximum frame rate by default it is off,I can set is between 20 to 1000 on my GTX 1660,mine is at 150 currently as more cause way too much fan noise in certain games or bad stuff in dead space. So you can set it to 60.You need to restart the game.

Certain games have ingame fps caps like only 30 for SAGE engine games,60 for all new dark souls etc.Certain games have trouble with high fps like dead space series,Far Cry 2.Certain games can also mirco slutter at high fps like witcher 1 on certain hardware.Or some games can run way too fast at high fps mostly older games.
