Any tips for a first timer?

Played through Bioshock 2 on hard only used vita chambers a few times.

Started playing this and can't get past the second Rosie I want to fight.

Can someone also explain the shooting mechanics? It seems the only real way to not get shot is to run around like an idiot or permenantly hide behind cover. If I step in and out of cover the first shot on me is always perfect; and in the case of rocket turrets it hits me before I've stepped out.

So I'm wondering what am I doing wrong.

typically it's better to do a mix of cover and stealth, enemies can actually be unalert and wait until they aren't looking your way, it's easier said than done, typically after a few hours you'll get a feel for it. rocket turrets on the harder difficulties are a pain, but health packs are relatively plentiful. you can always eat a hit once in a while.

Im playing hard as well, I played the Original, Its a real scramble shoot, get whatever cover you can find, use the map to your advantage. Its a real RUN and GUN type game. You dont hold up and shoot it out, shooting and moving is the best key. Ill use a whole map sometimes just to kill the harders splicers, running around corners to draw them out or hide and duck back in to get a pop shot.

The best way to avoid damage is to kill your enemies before they can fight back or to stun them with a plasmid.

You can also use the Security Bullseye to your advantage. Just use it on the Rosie when he's spotted by a camera, or trigger the alarm by hacking a vending machine and let the bots work for you.

Old topic, I know. But I'm about to replay this game, so I'll add my 2 cents.

Use a controller. Beleive it or not, this game plays much better and is easier with a controller. Switching from plasmids and weapons is much smoother making combat easier.

always have the ''unlimited power'' ability, more or less always usefull imo makes lot of things much easier.

Use the camera frequent !
It will make your life easier (no joke!).
the film is so cheap that it is no problem to waste a shot here and there.
so use it on dead splicers/rosies even when the effect is low.
make photos of cameras/turrets and bots too.
You get :
informations about the best type of ammo to kill the target.
damage bonus + and/or special tonica.

you have the eletrobolt and ion shotgunshells to stun rosie.
rosie isn't smart, he try to stun you with his scream then he rush in for infight.
lure him to locations where you can jump on tables/boxes/desks then he can't reach you.

the flame plasmid safe alot of ammunitation.
hack turrets/bots and cameras whenever you can.
they work for you afterwards and secure the area for you.

the bots guard you.
you can have 2 bot-guards at the same time, if i remember correct.
it is easy to get bot guards, go to a camera and enable the alarm, now wait for the bots , stun them with eletrobolt then hack them, hit the alarm off switch when you hacked 2.

stun turrets/bots with electrobolt then hack them with v.
you can repair bots .
disable and enable them with e. = bot repaired.
headshots are the way to go like in every other shooter.

the wrench is a usefull weapon when you buff yourself with the right tonica.
make the splicers notice you then wait behind corners/doors to smack them some when they come for a talk.

I ended up finishing off the first two Rosies in the marketplace area by waiting for them to get into the same room upstairs and hypnotising one of them. Basically killed themselves.

Get your first shots off in stealth-mode and then go all out run and gun;

For big daddys proximity mines are better than frag grenades. They're just less abundant. If you need to, use heat seeking first from far away 'til you run out giving you enough time to change ammo and finish off with proximities.

As soon as you shoot move sideways. Don't even need to run (on easy anyways). As soon as you shoot move left or right, shoot again and move opposite direction.

Don't bother laying proximity mines and waiting for him to walk into them all. That stops being effective soon in the game.

Use telekenisis to pick up and lay a bunch of cylinders in his path when available so you can do major damage in a single blow.

Another tip (obvious) is ensure that your hypos and kits are fully stocked and you are topped off for health and eve before engaging Big Daddies for contingency regarding the occasional mishap or unexpected boo boo; also, stun the Big Daddy then reload preventing you from taking direct damage while reloading your weapon as they'll eat you up especially if you stand still (as everyone else has stated shoot & move). The remaster seems a tad more challenging than the original (I played and solved) even on easy resulting in you getting more bang for your buck so chin up and kick buttocks!
