The museum is just a display of what 2K explains as "orphaned concepts." It's purpose is to offer a virtual, explorable museum, displaying concept art and characters that almost made their way into the game.

I actually think it's interesting. Those days of jumping around a museum and getting close to the statues has now come. Get a close up with a big daddy, walk behind him, but no selfies.

I think it was a great addition to the game. I ordered the Ultimate Rapture Edition for the Xbox 360 and experienced it in the past. Not sure if this part is remastered, but why not?
