Mind you if SH2 hadn't launched with the campaign ruining bug and had something akin to the Crusader Trail and better Skirmish AI lords it could have been better as it does do the castle sim better.
Plus personally i find trails boring, its just bunch of missions set up that honestly you could randomly think of too. Legends is the only game that does Trails right, unique edits of pre existing maps, with unique AI, unique castles for AI and even invasions, shame it cuts so much from Stronghold 2.
Meanwhile in 2 its rather obvious certain AI don't actually play by kingmaker rules so much that it rather breaks the immersion, though that is as much a matter of making it a better castle sim making it easier to tell when AI is cheating.
Can't say there is much cheating, there might be but honestly, it is nowhere near the levels Crusader 2 gets.
