how do you get gold/money?

I'm a noob at this game just starting out and wondering how do I get money?

When you start a game, you have to wait until someone builds them.

The plot of this game right now could be described as everyone on the ships arriving to this island have been banished from where they lived to a previously uninhabited island. You are on the first boat there, so when you land there is nothing.

When I do a playthrough one of the first things I do is try to get the perks to build a shop because it is one of the best (honest) ways of making money.

Tier 3 of the explorer/pioneer line auto maps towns
until you get that, exploring the ?'s to discover them can take time
I tend to get the merchant line so I can build shops to sell in the first towns I find. once sold I then sell untreated stone back to the shops to build up fast cash. new shops tend to have between 1100-1800 cash on hand.

sell buildings:
select so only you can build a building in your town build houses and businesses sell them by putting up for sale on the note near the door. building size does not matter presently they all sell for the same amount. you can build in other towns also same thing

collect taxes from your town people you can build more than one town

shops: me personally I like to have one shop for my excess stuff. just dump your extra stuff in the storage room a little gold might help to. I usually set up a farm with a shop nearby thats where I tend to call home. NPC shops get starting cash around 1k -2k.

Ruins: some of the random ruins contain treasure

Murder: you can kill Bandits or anyone for that matter. each kill affects your reputation and gives you items and gold. my last game I killed a settler with knights armor because my settlement was overrun with wild beasties.

when you first start money seems hard but after a while its sp that are hard to come by.

Become trader and build your own shop is the easyest was. Many poor guys sell high value things to your shop too. They always buy lumber, herbs and berrys at the beginning:

You have a box in every building you are building. Thats your stockpile. Put the goods and your gold in there. BUT do NEVER take all your gold out there. They will not be able to sell sth. to your shop and yu will end up with tonns of crap, like stones. You can take sold itmes from your stock boxes without paying and use these yourselves. Later on, when the town is getting bigger you wil also have pies, meat, veggies there which you can consume
