Does anybody have any tips?
If there's no dedicated servers with a server browser my interest in going back to strongholds best title (and getting my frinds to buy it) is zero.
How dare a game company not invest tons of money into a game that was originally released back in 2001!
Its been 12 years dude. Back when this game was designed there were very few games that did have dedicated servers. Most games were still direct connects only. You are basically asking them to invest tons of time reworking the networking for an outdated legacy game.
Uhm, Cossacks can,
AOE2 HD can.
ALot more can?
It has a multiplayer feature in the game. It is dated back to when it was created. Just because you are to lazy to use it does not make them a bad company.
What you are asking is that they overhaul the entire multiplayer from scratch on a 12 year old game!
It's like purchasing a model T car and demanding that Ford re-outfit it with satellite radio, air conditioning, cruise control, and power steering. It just does not make any sense.
Cossack's generated far more income for its developers then the original stronghold. It even has DLC.
AOE2 has a much larger following and still is quite popular. The hd version sells for 19.99 where as stronghold is barely a quarter of that price. Meaning they charged you for that work.
I doubt as many people would pay $20 for hd stronghold as those who did for AOE2.
Different companies mean different situations. Just because a company CAN do something does not mean they should.
That is opinion. Not fact. You may not value the game at that price but it still does not negate the fact that the price difference reflects the amount of changes that were made.
Think stronghold should have updated multiplayer options? Put your money where your mouth is or just be happy we can play an old favorite in higher resolutions.
It was awesome....
But alas its almost 2014....Everything is multi player....and its on a steam platform...
If the company wanted to make money again...they would release the game with a steam multiplayer platform so everyone would buy it again to play each other...
That would build up there customer platform so when they release their new title people remember there company!
They almost did this with strong hold kingdoms...BUT it sucks because it takes months to play....3 days of playing and I havent been able to build a single archer yet....takes like 20 minutes to construct 1 building...
They need to propperly combine strong hold kingdoms and strong hold cruesader into a suitable mutliplayer game....
other wise why would I buy this title on steam when i have the disc playing around which was strong hold crusader extreme which gives more benifits then strong hold crusader HD....or i could just pirate it for free...
multiplayer or its lame...end of story
