How do cheats work in this game?

I go on a bunch of websites and they all say to press the Shift, Alt, and A keys?
When I do on the main menu, nothing happens and when I was in game I would try doing ALT+Y to kill all onscreen enemies but nothing happens.
Am I doing something wrong?

i've had a look and most site say you have to press shift alt and A on the main screen to enable cheat mode but doesn't seem to work for me

I would like to know as im stuck on mission 15 as well.

If you want to win mission 15 then just set it to easy and go from there

Yeah, "set it to easy and go from there". The problem is the archers can't hit the broadside of a barn. They keep shooting into the ground. The old "cheat" that involved moving to the high ground on the north side of the map where the enemy can't hit you disappeared with a patch to the original version and makes it near impossible to beat. I did make it to the wolf's castle once but never got past 15 or 18 again, because of that patch.

So far I can't get the cheats from the original game to work. Does anyone have any answers for this problem?

shift+leftalt+A. at main menu to enable cheats. leftalt+c at main menu to unlock all missions. Just skip it.

I only use cheats in games after i've beaten the game or level so as to enjoy certain parts or aspects that might have been missed out on from normal game play...

I use cheats because I actually have to earn a living 10 hours a day and don't have time to bang my head against the wall.

Because I beat this game about 17 times before 2008. My old computer got destroyed and I don't want to go through the whole thing all over again.
