If you already owned SH2 on Steam prior to the new Steam Edition update, you should now already have the updated version.

I dont know what you mean. Ive bought this game in the shop a few years ago. I dont have the game on steam. Only the key with a disc.

You need to have SH2 on Steam in order to get the update for free. There's no way to convert a retail key into a Steam version. You'll need to buy the game on Steam again if you want to play the Steam edition with workshop support.

This is also generally true for any game you buy in a retail shop. Unless it specifically installs through Steam (e.g. all PC retail copies of Skyrim install through Steam), it has absolutely nothing to do with Steam.

Sorry dude, but that's just how a key works. It's only valid for whichever lock recognizes it. Steam can only redeem a key which they have sold or otherwise recognize - they need to make a profit too.

Perhaps the devs have released a patch for SH2 without the online features (though I doubt it), but you'd still be missing workshop support.

See this link for more info:

"Which retail/digital CD Keys are accepted on Steam?
If a retail or digital game is meant to be registered through Steam, the retail packaging or the email where the key was delivered will specify so. If a key is not intended for registration through Steam, you will see an invalid key error when you try to register it. If a retail or digital game key has already been registered, you will see a duplicate key error. Please see the sections on invalid and duplicate keys below for further information."

Well, it's not like I can do anything about it, I'm not the developer. If you're angry, go create a petition or something and I'll support you

Kind of a necro but why would you expect support from a platform in which you didn't buy the game in?
