Can't set pitch on fire

I'm having my archers lay fire-arrows (aflame) onto the pitch and nothing happens. Might as well be no pitch. No fire. Enemy not deterred. Any ideas?

Got it. You can't just have fire land indiscriminately on the pitch, you have to target the pitch as if it were an enemy unit.
