DIGGING A MOAT.... HOW?!

I don't understand how it works... IF it works. I click the shovel (the one with no x) and start to click on the land and drag it, then, nothing happens... So... how are moats exactly made in this game?

You can only dig them on green meadows. You can't do it on higher ground where you are able to place only Cow's farms or no farms at all.

It was driving me crazy on mission 12 that I can't build a mout around my castle making it harder for me. Finally managed to win that ♥♥♥♥ with no moat after so many retries. hahaha >.<

I did that as well and still nothing. Turns you out you need to send a worker(soldier) to dig out the moat. Saw the AI doing it and I thought why not me?

lol... Near the scribe you have got a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "?" help button. Click it and you have got a guilde and explained mechanics of everything in the game. And yes... You need soldiers to dig the moat. It's perfectly explained over the mission: "End of the Rat" where few of your soldiers are digging the moat since the start of the mission.

yes that help button... which doesn't really help with the "how to dig a moat" which was my problem. Everything else is understood and had no problems whatsoever. Just the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moat! hahaha

I didn't notice any of my men digging the moat in that mission my focus was probably on starting productions quickly haha...

Also I played the whole game without ever having any clue on how to dig a moat. I only realized the solution when I was playing Stronghold crusaders XD

Just checked it right now. The "?" button is to the left of the minimap and only appears once you click on a building which explains how that building works. Yeah... it wasn't really helpful throughout my playthrough. :P
