Timber and Stone

Timber and Stone

Builders not building.
I am trying to get my builders tolaydown some cobblestone floor and they did for this whole area except for a few spaces. Een if I dont give them anything else to do, they still will not build there.

I have almost a 500 stone, so I have materials. and the weird thing is if I dig up the cobblestone next to it and have them rebuild, they will. But for some reason they just will not build in this area.

Any ideas?

make sure you don't have any building scheme blocks, that cannot be reached by your settlers.
sometimes, if you place a wall or something else, one not yet placed scheme block gets blocked by an already placed one. this happens especially often, if you have more than one builder at work. just double check your building sites. ;)
scaffolds are also tricky, you better place them from bottom upwards. if you place the first part of the scaffold upwards, it may also cause some pathfinding issues.
They can reach it. I am building a floor. There are three blocks in teh middle of hte floor they just refuse to build. When I dig out the blocks next to them, the miners dig those up and the builders replace them no problem. But these three blocks one space away, they just will not build there for some reason.

have you already saved & reloaded the game? the blocks are already placed probably. if that not helps, i'm out of ideas.
I have restarted. Thanks for trying to assist. I will post screenshots.. maybe one of the developers can figure this out.

That's odd. That looks like it should be no problem for the builders.

What is the current task for your builder? If you select a builder and press F1, their current task will be at the bottom of the window.

Is it possible to upload your save? I might be able give it a look over this afternoon to see if I can find anything.
Here you go... hope you can figure out whats going on.

Ooops, i should add, I added a cheat file in order to slow down moster attacks. But that isnt the source of the problem. I actually got the cheat file because monsters would come while my builders were standing around not finishing the walls.
Ok, there are two problem sites at play here. One is here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=556173994

You have a completely submereged building designation here. Your builder is trying to get access to that tile and cannot, so his pathing is bugging out.

Here's the other problem site:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=556174199

The building designation under the bridge is unreachable.

Both of these problems are easily fixable. You can either cut a path to both sites, or you can simply remove the problem designations.

This should fix the problem: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=71437314057179780640

Hey hey! that worked! But now i have another problem..

I cannot go through layers. I had to scroll down ti that manually. I tried to remap the keys to - and +, the letters O and P, nothing works. It was originally on PageUp and PageDown, but I am on a laptop so those are kind of funky to get too.
Awesome news that it worked!

On depth, if you turn on "Display current depth level" in the options menu (Esc. -> Options) and then press your new keybinding for lowering the view hight, does the depth change? The game defaults to showing the highest possible layer (layer 48) and most settlements will between layers 10 and 20, so you'll need to press the layer down key at least 20 times for anything to change.

hehe, so i wasn't wrong with my first assumption. :) i've built a lot the past weeks, and anytime a builder refuses to work, it was just because of a few unreachable designations.

My problem isn't them refusing to work, just working epically slowly. I have two builders with some easily reachable walls that need to be build.

This is how they are acting basically. Sit at a chair for a while, go get some stone, build one block, go walk around a while, eat some food, mess around with the tool boxes, sit in the chair again... it's like they are building one block every 5-10 minutes and I swear they have everything they need right by them.
That sounds like you're out of a building material. What type of block are you trying to construct?

Yeah your right I was out of bricks for some reason I forgot they had to be made first.
ive notcied alot of my workers like to sit in chairs even with designated tasks so i took chairs out to stop this replying to e5
