Better way to level-up Carpenters?

So, to level up Blacksmiths with ease is enough to spam Minecarts, but for the Carpenter? The best I came out was solid timber or how the heck it is called, which requires Timbers just like Minecarts. Oh, and a question, do you get a refund in terms of resorces when you deconstruct something?

Yes you get a refund. At least you do with minecarts. Never had issue with carpenter as you can just build useful stuff with him and dont need pointless stuff. Set yourself to build 999 timber. You'll use the timber for other things. Also plan some of your stockpiles in advance and just build an early set of storage for food/timber/etc.
