This mod is great for that sort of thing
Another nice way to use this mod is to play everything as you would normally and use the "Kill all Enemies" function in emergencies or even "Revive all Fallen" and play normal for those who consider this a cheat, use it as a emergency lol
That's what I generally do. Build a sweet base with good military and towers etc than crank on mass invasions and see how long i last.
First is the player management. If you don't know how to manage your limited number of starting characters properly, and can't or are unwilling to learn and experiment, this game isn't for you in its current state. It gets stupid easy later on down the line when you obtain more people and build up your settlement, provided you use your head. Backwards when you think about it in game terms (difficulty scaling), but true a lot of starting projects in general. The hardest part is the initial struggle, until you learn the patterns and prepare ahead for possible shortcomings. The game, as it is right now, in a nutshell.
Second, and you are going to have heard this many times by many others, early access.
Right now, it has an amazing start, but the difficulty trails off to be trivial since content is lacking as well as only initial testing to see if things work is being done (at least when this game was still being updated). There really isn't much to this game as is... you can see everything available in the game by the time necromancers show up. Right now, the game encompasses you being able to withstand the initial hardships (not difficult at all).
Given this game hasn't seen an update in forever, refund and move onto something better to your level of capacity.
