making a roof, how does it work?

i'm not entirely sure how to go about makoing a proper roof. some games it's pretty straightforeward, but here i'm somewhat confused. is it sort of like minecraft where you need to step-stone it and build an escalating pattern of roof-square-roof or what?

Well it's up to you really. you could just slap a flat roof on there and be done, or if you feel like being prim and proper you'll have to stair-step it like minecraft. To rotate the block ffor building just press the space bar before laying out your designation

You can find roof-blocks under Design -> Construction -> Roofing

It's not for roof blocks. You can rotate other stuff as well :)
