how to fix negative reputation?

so some stoner talkd trash I made a bad joke, and he went mad. he died and i got -4 now.
sadly taking a trader job to that town still does not allow me to hand in the successfull escort quest to get positive reputation which is pretty stupid, because the town traders reacts with the default negative reputation dialogue, so i cnanot make any esorts anymore to increase reputation.
